The real clinical cases simulator Practicum Script has just launched its own application in order to facilitate the clinical training of Cardiology, Gastroenterology and Pediatrics professionals. The app retains its online functionalities, allows you to sign up from your phone and provides an audio option so you can listen to every case.
Madrid - April 12, 2018. Practicum Script builds on the success of the website and offers its users a much more comfortable and quick access through the application of the same name. As with the online portal, the app integrates a hypothesis-formulation, clinical decision-making and results-observation model for the current courses in Cardiology, Gastroenterology, and Pediatrics. The goal is to make Practicum Script a more precise and efficient simulator thanks to the use of new technologies.
"With this new app we take a step forward in the willingness to expand and improve communication channels with physicians and facilitate the processes of attention to their needs," explains Dr. Eduardo Hornos, president of Practicum Foundation. And he continues: "The adoption of new technological tools makes it easier to be closer to the professionals of the three specialties integrated into the academic program”. In this way, specialists and residents will be able to enrol on any course and practise from any device at any time of the day.
Practicum Script is unique in that it allows each participant, through his or her inputs, to improve the effectiveness of what is considered to be the first model of distance education focused on self-assessment and the training of clinical reasoning. Our clinical thinkers club has more than 5000 participants and 400 experts from different countries, as well as the support of 15 scientific organizations. According to Dr. Hornos, "this important tool reverts to an increase of confidence and security in decision-making in front of the patient”.
Improving user experience
The application is also an agile and dynamic means of consultation since it preserves both the methodological tutorial of the website and Script Connect, the personalized help centre. Also, with regards to the technical specifications of the Practicum Script app, the designers have incorporated a really simple operation and navigation mode so that it is as intuitive and easy-to-use as possible. It is possible, for example, to listen to the case exposure instead of reading it. With an eye towards the future, "we are working on new features", announces Dr. Hornos. And even more: "We intend to expand the range of courses and specialties available within a click."
Real challenges
With an average of 30 clinical cases per course and 150 possible scenarios in 3 specialties, Practicum Script is designed to assess the approach the practitioner applies to solve complex cases of clinical practice in Cardiology, Gastroenterology and Pediatrics. It does not measure the basic knowledge but rather the reasoning and way of reaching conclusions, while at the same time weaving a collaborative network of learning and immediate feedback from international experts. All of this is with the endorsement of both the Commission of Continuing Education of Health Professions of the National Health System and the Distance University of Madrid.
