Madrid, 26 February 2024. “Practicum Script is a useful resource for strengthening students’ clinical reasoning skills and ability to manage uncertainty”. That’s the conclusion of "Reliability, validity and acceptability of an online clinical reasoning simulator for medical students: An international pilot", a recent paper published in Medical Teacher echoing the pilot experience conducted four years ago among almost 2,500 students from top medical schools such the University of Oxford and the University of California - San Francisco. The specialized journal, rated Q1, reveals that reliability estimates were high. The study, available in open access, has also demonstrated good validity and acceptability. Besides, most trainees considered the Practicum Script clinical reasoning simulator as “excellent” or “good” in terms of satisfaction and perceived benefits.
This is the only cognitive training simulator fully tested and validated. The research protocol was audited by the European Board of Medical Assessors and the ethical approval was granted by Imperial College London (MEEC1920-180).
